Kia Ora,

Life can be tough, those times where your back is against the wall, there's no where to go, and no one to turn to. That's when you need someone you can lean into, who will walk alongside. One person can make a difference. Sometimes we are that person, and other times we need that person.

My Journey

My journey to the counselling profession started in Hastings, working for a youth organisation called Te Ora Hou as a youth worker. While there I began to learn that trauma has been an underlying issue for many of us, Pakeha and Maori..  To increase my understanding, insight, skills, and effectiveness, I went to Bethlehem College to study a bachelor of counselling.  Compelled by my interest in working cross culturally I also completed a diploma in Intercultural Studies at East West College.  Since then, I have felt extremely privileged to have been given a wide range of experience including working cross culturally, both in non government and government health organisations.

Healing takes place when we learn who we are, allow ourselves to grieve, connect with ourselves and others.  Together we can work together so that you can become more aware of your body responses feelings thoughts and the internal logic that shapes your worldview.

.

In today's fast pace world a significant portion of our time is spent in the workplace. It is therefore essential that we create healthy practices in a positive environment.  Strong ethical practice comes from having good Supervision.  Taking care of others means taking care of ourselves.

Trauma can often be an underlying issue for many issues; violence, rage, addictions, depression and anxiety.  If you have suffered current or historical sexual trauma you may be eligible for ACC funded counselling. Contact me if you are ready for change and healing.  We are not our trauma.  Gather your courage and take a step for a better more fulfilling future.
